I am back to share 29 more little fun moments of the lives of my cat Moe and dog Toki. Click here to see the previous post.
By day, I am a tattoo artist, but I have found myself with a bit more time on my hands due to the lockdowns. Being able to spend this time with the pets helps stave off the existential gloom and makes some fun moments that bring some simple positivity that I thought I would start to share.
I’m a tattoo artist, and when the studio where I was working got closed due to the lockdown, I had a mental block and didn’t feel like working on new tattoo designs as I knew I wouldn’t be able to use them anytime soon. I still felt the urge to do something creative, so I started building tiny robots and other things using clock parts, old buttons, plastic straws, and other recycled materials. I just started a YouTube channel called karol.crafts to show how I created my scratch-built models. I’m also on Instagram under the same name as my YouTube channel.
Ayhan Karadağ is a tattoo artist who creates adorable minimalist tattoos that almost look like illustrations from The Little Prince. He has been drawing since he was 11 years old and says there hasn’t been a moment in his life when he didn’t want to do it. “I gave up so much for it,” says the artist. “I believe that art is my fun, my culture, my lover, my ritual, my everything.”
Throughout his life, Ayhan experimented with many forms of art – he even created handmade ancient Greek musical instruments at one point! Eventually, he realized that the material he likes to work with the most is human skin. “While making art, I realized that a person’s body is the most valuable material and that I want to make people happy when they look at my work on their bodies…” explains the artist. “I don’t think there’s anything more gratifying than carrying the fairytale design that one imagines in his body all his life.”
In his work, the tattoo artist loves to tell fairytale stories intertwined with nature and animals, and stories depicting the times when we were children. “I’m passionate about nature and animals because I believe that the more dependent we are on nature, the more free we are as individuals…” says Ayhan.
The artist is currently drawing a fairytale book but says he can’t finish it yet due to the intensity of his tattoo work. He has already tattooed some of the illustrations on people and the tattoos look absolutely adorable – check them out below!
One day, this guy just kind of figured – “I spend most of my time on the internet anyway, why not turn it into a profession?” – and he did! Now he not only gets to browse the latest cat videos and fresh memes every day but also shares them with people all over the world, making sure they stay up to date with everything that’s trending on the web. Some things that always pique his interest are old technologies, literature and all sorts of odd vintage goodness. So if you find something that’s too bizarre not to share, make sure to hit him up!
