During her time as cohost of the Today show with Kathie Lee Gifford, Hoda Kotb has proved her value as part of millions of people’s morning routines. This is probably why there was such positive feedback on January 2, when Kotb was officially announced as Matt Lauer‘s replacement as coanchor of Today. In honor of Kotb’s newest role in morning television, here are the 53-year-old’s most endearing stories about her home life in New York City, from bringing home her adopted daughter Haley Joy in 2017 to tracking her lost dog down in her own apartment building.
Kristen Wiig is making history with her most recent purchase. The Saturday Night Live alum recently dropped $2.96 million for a house better known as Pasadena’s Case Study House #10. Sponsored by Arts & Architecture magazine, the Case Study Houses were a series of homes built between 1945 and 1966, meant to showcase work by the major architects of the day, including Richard Neutra, Raphael Soriano, Pierre Koenig, A. Quincy Jones, and Ralph Rapson. Wiig’s particular home was designed by father-son architect team Kemper Nomland and Kemper Nomland Jr. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places soon after its construction.
Broad City star Abbi Jacobson is the latest celebrity to shell out for a midcentury-style home in recent weeks, and based on descriptions of the restored 1950s home, it isn’t hard to see the appeal. The 2,000-square-foot, two-story residence, located in Los Angeles’s Silver Lake neighborhood, includes three bedrooms and two bathrooms, plus a separate office space accessible through a three-car garage). It also oversees the city’s downtown skyline. The home’s main focus seems to be natural light: The living room is lined with windows and the dining room features glass sliders that open out onto a covered patio, perfect for sunbathing in late December or watching the sun rise each morning. Meryl Streep and Kristen Wiig have also recently purchased homes in a similar style.
