30 Detailed Tattoos Of Paintings And Popular Characters By Hakan Adik

Adding one and one doesn’t always equal two. Sometimes the thing becomes less than two, and other times it is much more than just two. In other words, sometimes the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. The latter case is true to Hakan Adik, who adds motifs of famous paintings and popular characters to create his own unique style of tattoos.

Jsouv – The First Souvenir For The Modern Traveler

Jsouv is a collection of finely crafted souvenirs of extraordinary architectural landmarks from around the world. Using natural materials, minimalistic design and precision machining, Jsouv was created to experience the simple beauty of each architectural wonder in the palm of your hands.

My passion for travel and background in civil engineering inspired me to create architectural souvenirs with clean lines, durable materials, and a style that could complement the decor of a modern home or office space

The Jsouv collection features 15 landmarks from New York, London, Berlin, Istanbul, Dubai, Tokyo, and more.

Working on each souvenir, we have tried to emphasize the most important features of each structure to make the souvenirs as clean as possible.

To accentuate the beauty of form, we use natural materials with pleasant surfaces. Each figure is made by CNC machining from a solid block of aluminum or brass. Many-axis CNC metal processing is an expensive method, but it allowed us to achieve the highest surface quality and create a unique product in small editions.

Each base is created from natural walnut to contrast its noble dark color and texture and highlight the piece itself and has 2D emblem of the city landmark on it.

The pieces are placed on the base by strong neodymium magnets and can easily be removed whenever you like.

Istanbul Shown As A Colorful Modern City By Yener Torun

What imagery comes to mind when you think about Istanbul? Whatever it is, it’s probably not modern architecture, and that is what Turkish photographer Yener Torun is trying to change.

Just think of the Istanbul photos you have seen before: grand mosques, old streets, seagulls over the Bosphorus. I show a completely different side. Even long-term residents can’t believe these pics were taken in the city they live in,” says the photographer.

He regularly updates his Instagram account with these incredibly vibrant examples of Istanbul’s modern architecture. It started a couple of years ago, when he found an inspiration for his photography in architecture: “Usually architecture easily provides the things I look for – colours, geometric patterns, strong lines, shadow plays.

EYE-D
 THE NEW HOTSPOT IN ISTANBUL

Eye-D designed by Ofist, Yasemin Arpac & Sabahattin Emir, in Istanbul, is a multi purpose venue. It’s a blogger spot, a meeting point, an art gallery, a coffee shop or a music venue. More importantly, it is a space based upon human experience. A place where you not only shop, but involve in other experiences, being aware of your surrounding and valuing it.

Social Optical Shop

Eye-d is not just designed to be an optical shop. No business is just the business itself anymore. Everything is social. In crowded metropolises like Istanbul, life is busy, fast and hard. Sparing time for everything and everyone is almost impossible. So maybe that’s why we are always doing many things at a time; having a morning coffee, while checking mails and news, adding stories to instagram, following friends to catch up with what they are doing, and also keep on doing our work.

We also try to relate ourselves with the environments around us. Let’s call this user experience. So, Eye-D is not just a shop, but a multi purpose venue.

Clean Cut

It is a new concept for an optical shop. Wearing spectacles or sunglasses used to be a technical need but it has now become fashionable. To fulfill this purpose, shops were designed hygienically, as if designing a health care space. Clean cut. Sterile. Clinical.

The Ofist Designers

Our approach was to create a cozy, interactive, user friendly environment, appropriate to human scale, in the middle of the chaotic city.

“It is a space designed to be adapted to different purposes easily, while developing a communication with its user. We think the strongest instrument of achieving this is the extraordinary use of simple and familiar materials/ideas.

We came up with just a few simple, yet very strong design ideas and shaped the whole space within that framework. One of these ideas was to form an iron frame work and panels that create a multi purpose background, allowing easy arrangements for different needs like showcasing glasses as well as art works. The other idea was to assign a light, familiar, friendly element, something simple in form and size, and generate a space using it all around.

We decided on cork yoga blocks and ended up hanging 550 of them in 105m² area, 95 of them with light sources. We also hung a 4m long plywood table laminated cork on both sides, from just four corners to the ceiling. Matching cork Bob stools from Modus are wandering around.”
