50 Times People Had Awful Taste But Executed Their Ideas Flawlessly (New Pics)

Look, having good taste doesn’t guarantee anything. I mean, it doesn’t mean people won’t appreciate your taste or that you won’t get complimented way more often than the rest of humanity, but half of the coin belongs to execution. If it is poor, this power duo of desirable traits is doomed.

But sometimes, it’s awful taste that spoils it all. Imagine having skill, patience, resources, all that it takes in the world, except lacking the taste and understanding of the whole picture in the first place. This selection is dedicated to precisely these idly hilarious instances.

When drawing comics, you can spend hours creating numerous panels and elaborate stories – but sometimes one panel is more than enough. And comic artist Nate Fakes’ works are the perfect example. The man creates hilarious single-panel comics, and they’re absolutely impossible not to laugh at.

In an interview with Bored Panda, the artist said he has been drawing since he got his first box of crayons, and that some of his biggest inspirations are Gary Larson’s The Far Side comic strip and MAD magazine. “I’ve been a cartoonist my whole life. Professionally, I guess you can say I started about a little over a decade ago,” says Nate. “It’s a tough profession, but the most rewarding profession, too.” The artist says that the best thing about being a solo artist is the freedom of working for himself.

People Are Recreating Terrible Thrift Store Art At Home And It’s Hilarious (40 Pics)

Recreating artwork using objects in their homes has become a pastime for many creative people who are stuck in quarantine. And while we’ve seen recreations of famous works by Picasso, van Gogh, and Klimt, there’s another style of painting that is often overlooked when it comes to art recreations. I’m talking, of course, about thrift store art – a unique art form that’s rarely recreated for a good reason.

These are the types of paintings that end up in charity stores and garage sales when someone finally decides they can’t bear looking at them any longer. However, there are people out there that actually appreciate these paintings and someone even started a Facebook group called Terrible Art in Charity Shops where they share their most hilarious finds. Recently, some users started recreating some of that terrible art at home, and the results were even more hilarious than the originals – check them out in the gallery below!

In an interview with Bored Panda, Becky Gouverneur, one of the administrators of the group, said she and her friend Laura started Terrible Art in Charity Shops back in 2017. It all started when Laura posted a photo of some terrible thrift store art on her own Facebook page and got hundreds of comments. That’s when Becky suggested she start a group and the project took off.

“When lockdown began across the world, the group interactions dropped dramatically as most of the charity shops had closed. We were a bit worried about the group, which had been so active until then,” explained Becky. “Then, one day, a member called Ceri Ashton asked if she was allowed to post a ‘recreation’ of a post from the group. Matt and Ann (two of our key admins) mulled it over for a couple of hours. We are normally quite strict about what we let in as we don’t want the group to become swamped with all those kitsch statues of ladies dancing or awful cat plates….”

“The group was originally aimed at awful paintings or drawings by amateur artists (this is also something I’m really keen on as I’m an artist myself) and we try to keep true to that original vision,” continued Becky. “In the end, Matt and Ann thought ‘what the hell, only a few of them will be bothered to join in so what harm can it do?’ and the group had become so quiet during lockdown they thought it would provide some entertainment… little did they know! None of us expected the reaction we got!”

Becky said that after the initial post, the group went crazy and soon enough more and more people were joining in. She says that this was exactly what people needed to lighten their mood amidst all the chaos.

Turns out that Ceri ended up creating her own Facebook group called Recreate Artwork With Things You Find At Home and it already has over 63k members so make sure to check it out!

Dave Releases 30 Animal ‘Guides’ And They’re So Ridiculous, They’re Hilarious

The animal kingdom is huge and unless you’re my colleague, Justė, who’s like a walking encyclopedia (seriously, the woman knows everything, point to a random bug on the ground and she’ll tell you all about its ancestors a million years ago), it’s impossible to know everything about it. So, to broaden your understanding of the beings we share Earth with, UK TV channel Dave launched an online campaign titled What the bloody hell is a … ?

During it, the channel shared pictures of various animals along with some of their defining characteristics. And yes, the descriptions aren’t completely legit. Well, actually, they’re almost pure fiction. But they’re so ridiculous, they’re kinda genius. Continue scrolling and you’ll understand what I mean.

Launched in 1998, Dave uses its social media to create absolute nonsense. Like their animal guides. “It’s always good to learn new things about the natural world, even if the facts aren’t always 100% true,” a Dave spokesperson told Bored Panda.

Usually, the channel’s social media team comes up with the ideas for such campaigns. “We use our Facebook page, Instagram and Twitter to promote our TV shows, but we also like to make content to make our followers laugh as they are checking their newsfeeds!” the spokesperson said.

There isn’t really a scheme behind how the channel communicates with their viewers online as they usually simply go with the flow. “We just see how we are feeling that day, to be honest! It could be something in the news or just something that springs to mind, there is no rhyme or reason to it!

However, if you’d also like to go through some actual animal trivia, fire up Bored Panda‘s earlier articles called 42 Interesting Animal Facts That You Can Throw Out In Casual Conversations, 30 Happy Animal Facts That Will Make You Smile, and 30 Weird Animal Facts They Didn’t Teach You In School.

5 Things Babies Can Do But You Can’t Hilariously Illustrated In Comics

“Dumb Comics for Smart People. Making sense of Life, Love and Videogames, one strip at a time”—that’s the way that the talented founders of Respawn comics present themselves to the world. Illustrator Harold works with his best friend and partner-in-crime writer Devakumar to make hilarious comic strips (and they both like to point out that, yes, they have heard of the movie titled ‘Respawn’).

Their newest comic strip, ‘Things Babies Can Do That You Can’t,’ took the internet by storm. It offers a fresh and funny take on what exactly we miss out on when we grow up. Our verdict? Being a baby sounds so much better.
