Iconic Movie And TV Posters Reimagined With Disney Characters By Alex Pick (50 Pics)

Alex Pick brings Disney back in the most unexpected ways. Last time, the German artist, known to his 123k followers on Instagram as apicollodraws, ‘humanimalized’ Disney’s universe by turning our favorite animal characters into humans and the other way around in his spot-on illustrations. This time, Pick took his creative ideas around Disney fanart in another direction and drew mashups of Disney and Hollywood. He replaced stars in the posters of iconic movies and a few TV series with Disney characters. Have you ever wondered which princesses would play Mean Girls, who would be able to replace Jack and Rose in Titanic, or who would be able to pull off the emotional Brokeback Mountain? Pick has you covered and reimagined them all. Find out how he got this idea and how the series came to life in an interview with the artist below!

Artist Shows What Would Happen If Disney Had Modern Technologies (12 Pics)

We all know Disney characters by now. Most of us probably have a love-hate relationship with popular children’s cartoons and movies. Many artists like to take the popular characters and place them in all kinds of situations, like reimagining famous movie posters or humanizing them. The artist known as Onefairyfail on Instagram created a series called ‘Phone Fairy Fails’ where they show what would happen if Disney characters had phones and other technology.

Alex Pick was inspired by other artists who supply us with regular Disney content and put his own twist on it to create this series of reimagined posters.

“I saw some other artists doing mashups of historical art with Disney characters or music videos with Disney Princesses instead of Britney Spears or Ariana Grande! So I thought it would be fun to do these crossovers with movies and movie posters!!! And there is an unlimited amount of stuff I can choose from,” Pick told Bored Panda.

The artist admits he can draw inspiration from everyday life, anything as mundane as something seen on TV or on the streets, and because of his “big imagination” and a fair share of talent, he is able to turn these ideas into art.#3

Pick’s reimagined posters are never random; he carefully selects characters that would replace the actors perfectly or looks for humorous ways of transforming the original.

“Normally, I check the physical and visual appeal of the existing characters in the poster and check which Disney character would fit the best! But sometimes it’s more or less a simple joke behind the story which makes it even funnier or absurd! For example, the Snow Fiction (Pulp Fiction) or the Forest Gump with Kronk.”#5

The artist says the time spent on each illustration depends on the characters and details involved and can take up to 8 hours to complete. This was the case with a more complex poster, The Greatest Showman/Snowman.

His favorite piece so far is the poster of A Star Is Born with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper replaced with Tarzan and Jane because of “the purity of it and the soft color scheme.”#7

We asked Pick what’s so special about Disney: “I’ve been a Disney fan since my childhood and I love this content! It’s a magical artistic work full of fun adventures and the style and characters bring me so much joy.”

124k followers on Instagram share this joy and love for Disney with the artist.

“The most challenging thing to me is to get enough time to draw because sometimes, it’s hard not to draw, but necessary to take breaks and reset and relax. The most rewarding is when people write me personal messages that they love my art or that they have laughed a lot or that it brightens their days. I absolutely love to read these messages,” Pick shared the struggles and rewarding moments of his artistic journey. Although he meets hate online (who doesn’t), he doesn’t let negative comments affect his life.#11

As a child who has been drawing since he could hold a pencil, he dreamed of working for Disney and having a spot in the credits of the biggest movies and his dream has come true on a local level so far. Besides illustrating Disney fanart for our entertainment in his free time, Pick proudly works as a designer for an animation studio in Germany.

“I think the proudest moment was when I first saw my name in the credits of an animation movie on the big screen,” the artist recollects the proudest moment of his career.#13

We asked Pick to give a piece of advice to any upcoming artist who dreams of making it in the industry, and although he said he is not good at giving advice, the answer he gave works perfectly for most of us, even those who don’t have any ambitions of becoming artists.

“Try to find something that brings you joy no matter what, that inspires you to go on and be creative every day and minute! Take breaks and don’t take everything too seriously because life is serious enough! Have fun and stay magical!”#15

Artist Reimagines Disney Characters As Modern-Day Women And Men, People Love It

Even though some of our favorite Disney characters, like Snow White, for example, are over 80 years old, they don’t look a day older than when they were first created. However, French Guiana-based artist Véronique Pierre decided to bring some of them to the 21st century by giving them new age makeovers. She regularly posts videos of the makeovers on her TikTok and has already gathered a following of over 633K fans on the platform!

In a recent interview, the artist explained why the princesses in her illustrations aren’t always as merry as we remember them. The artist said that while most of us are used to seeing them as happy, in the real life everything isn’t as beautiful and easy. “We all have ups and downs,” added Véronique.

Véronique says that she was inspired to start creating the makeovers after seeing other artists creating similar images on TikTok. “I thought it was really beautiful, and I was wondering how the drawings would look with my own style,” said the artist. “So I decided to draw all the princesses.”

Morgana (Little Mermaid)

Tiana (Princess and the Frog)

Wendy (Peter Pan)

The artist said that when she was drawing Ariel, she thought to herself “If she was here with us, if she was real, what would she be like? Would it be like in the movie where everything is nice and clean?” Véronique realized that she probably wouldn’t be as happy as she was when she was created and decided to try out a more thought-provoking approach.

The artist also says that the villains are often underrated as they’re just as charming and charismatic as the main characters and adds that Cruella de Vil from One Hundred and One Dalmatians was her most favorite illustration to draw.

Artist Reimagines 22 Famous Paintings With Disney Characters

Some people think that learning about art history is only for artists, art critics, and those working in the art sphere. However, one artist thinks that it’s important for everyone to learn about it. To prove that, Spanish graphic designer and illustrator Carlos Gromo created a series of Disney characters inspired by famous paintings to help people to memorize these classics better.

The artist, who is also known as carlosgromodraw to his 31k Instagram followers, started this project in 2019 when he finished his Fine Arts studies. He realized that many people don’t know much about art history or famous paintings. So he started this ongoing project with an aim to educate people in an entertaining way. The good news is that the project became a huge success and hopefully, people have learned something about classical art.#3

His series features such animated movie classics as 101 Dalmatians, Beauty and the Beast, Hercules, and Sleeping Beauty. The characters from these movies are based on the style and color palette of each painting. For instance, Belle and Beast are depicted as the famous painting “The Kiss” by Gustav Klimt. Just like in the painting, they look like a couple embracing each other in beautifully decorated robes. Meanwhile, Roger and Anita Radcliffe from 101 Dalmatians are shown as a farmer and his daughter in the famous 1930 painting “American Gothic” by Grant Wood.#5

“This project started because when I finished my Fine Arts career at university, as an artist, I realized that many people didn’t know many of the art paintings and I thought that I could present them in a more original way. I have always liked to draw Disney, so I thought of the idea of starting this project by drawing those characters from the movies in those pictures from art history. In this way, I managed to give visibility to many works of art and artists from different periods,” says the artist to Bored Panda.#7

This Artist Reimagined Disney Characters As Oil Paintings, And You’ll Want One In Your Bedroom

Heather Theurer is an American painter, illustrator and graphic designer. As one of her projects, she decided to do an interesting and unique take on Disney characters by painting them as renaissance style paintings.

The artist doesn’t just recreate the Disney artists’ work – she does her own unique interpretations, often reimagining the characters’ appearances completely. Heather’s paintings are full of detail and capture the emotion of each character perfectly. Check them out in the gallery below!

This Artist Has Amazing Adventures By Photoshopping Disney Characters Into His Photos (30 Pics)

Luigi Kemo Volo is an Italian graphic designer, illustrator, and avid Disney fan who makes sure his life is never boring by photoshopping various Disney characters into his photos. Walking on the shore with Lilo and Stitch or taking a dip with Baloo is just another day in the office for this talented man.

It took the artist quite a long time to find his path. Luigi started his work career as a bartender, worked as a part-time photographer for a few years, tried his hand at creating street art back in 2002 and even worked as a writer. After a while, the artist came back to photography before finally becoming a freelance illustrator in 2014.

In an interview with Bolivia Arcana, Luigi explained that as an illustrator, he tries to combine two of his favorite arts: photography and illustrations. “It is only recently that I started digital graphics. That’s how I was able to combine my two passions! Draw my favorite animated characters and create an interesting interaction,” explained Luigi.

Luigi has loved Disney movies and characters since he was a child and is very passionate about them. However, it was his nephew that inspired the artist to start the series – Luigi wants him to believe that magic, as well as the characters, are real.

Check out Luigi’s adventures with Disney characters in the gallery below!
