30 Funny Comics By Tauhid Bondia That Perfectly Capture What It Was Like Growing Up In The 80s

Most of us still have fond memories of our childhood days: playing outside with our friends, getting in trouble for things that seem pretty hilarious today, and generally going about without a care in the world. And to illustrate this wonderful feeling, artist Tauhid Bondia started Crabgrass, a webcomic that captures the lives of two boys, Kevin and Curtis, and all the fun they had while growing up in the 80s.

In a recent interview with Bored Panda, Tauhid said that he has been drawing since he was a kid, and added that he was lucky enough to have a mother that supported his art. “That’s so important for young artists. Just having someone encourage them to keep it up,” said the artist.

Tauhid says that Crabgrass is one of his several attempts of creating a feature and finding an audience. “I chose to make it about two best friends and base them on myself and my best friend as a kid,” explained the artist. And even though Tauhid thinks that the personal touch helped the comic resonate with people, over time Kevin and Miles evolved and don’t really resembled him and his friend anymore. “Characters sort of develop themselves after they’ve been with you a while,” added the artist.

“I like to think about my comics as a fun reminder of how innocent, rotten, and just plain confused we all were as children,” said the artist.

One day, this guy just kind of figured – “I spend most of my time on the internet anyway, why not turn it into a profession?” – and he did! Now he not only gets to browse the latest cat videos and fresh memes every day but also shares them with people all over the world, making sure they stay up to date with everything that’s trending on the web. Some things that always pique his interest are old technologies, literature and all sorts of odd vintage goodness. So if you find something that’s too bizarre not to share, make sure to hit him up!

  1. I can’t help but notice the amazing similarity to Calvin and Hobbes. Parallel characters, same cadence to the jokes… It’s uncanny!
