The designer uses his more than 30 years of experience to select some amazing finds—curated from eBay Collective—that can make a dramatic statement in any room of your home.
Finding just the right piece of furniture is critical when trying to tie together your design concept. Whether it is a rug, cabinet, chair, lamp, or desk, the perfect design can make all the difference. Here, renowned designer Vicente Wolf gives his recommendations for some items that can make interesting focal pieces in all different areas of the home.
This four-door cabinet is made of sycamore and stained fruitwood. “It’s almost an art piece in and of itself with a combination of light and dark woods. It can work in the foyer or master room—or really any room,” states Vicente Wolf.
This midcentury modern-style table has a stainless-steel frame, composed in highly reticulated bands culminating in two columns on an open rectangular base. “It’s sleek and modern, with beautiful design detailing,” says Wolf.
“Lighting in the 70s was just superb! This lamp, in particular, is one of my favorites because it’s modern with a quirky quality to it,” says Wolf.
An icon of luxurious French Modernism, Adnet was known for his leather furniture designs. This piece has a chrome base with a leather top. “It works great as either a desk or a serving table,” adds Wolf.
“I love bookcases by Albini. They float in space with wonderful mechanical details, which provide a sculptural quality,” says Wolf.
The base of this table is iron painted gold. “The gold finish gives it a dramatic look,” says Wolf. “I love iron tables especially when they look like a pencil sketch.” This beige marble-topped table is available through Newel.
Wolf “loves the combination of the chrome and the small drawers. It can make any bedroom glamorous.”
More than 100 years old, this tall antique trunk has its original hardware and can “work as a side table or a center table,” says Wolf. “The metal detailing takes it from being a trunk to a fine objet d’art.”
Available through Doris Leslie Blau, this mid-20th-century rug is signed by the artisan, Olga Fisch. Fisch was a Hungarian-born designer who linked the gap between folk art and fine art when working with artisans in Ecuador instructing them to use Turkish and Persian rug weaving techniques. “This rug has enough pattern to anchor a room but it is subtle enough not to take it over,” adds Wolf.
