The NBA legend’s latest purchase is a 1990s Tudor-style home with five bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms in Los Angeles’s Bell Canyon enclave
Shaquille O’Neal, apparently, needs more room to stretch out. The NBA all-star recently dropped $1.815 million to pick up a 5,217-square-foot home in Los Angeles’s Bell Canyon enclave, located near the Kardashians and their growing Calabasas, California, empire. The home, which sits on one acre of land, is built in the 1990s Tudor style, with a faux-timbered stucco exterior and a turreted entry. Inside, the mansion features five bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms, along with a formal living room and formal dining room, an office and a kitchen with an informal dining space at one end and a cozy lounge at the other. A separate media lounge and family room rounds out the ground floor amenities; the space also includes a wet bar and a drop-down movie screen. Televisions are prominently featured throughout the house, perfect for screening game days and maybe even O’Neal’s own commentary on TNT’s Inside the NBA.
The second floor includes three guest bedrooms, one of which has a private, en suite bathroom (the other two share a hall bathroom with a jetted bathtub). The master suite is a masterpiece in an of itself too, with a fireplace, a sitting area, two walk-in closets and a bathroom with a double-sink vanity, a two-person glass-enclosed shower, and a jetted garden tub with several Tudor-style windows overlooking the property. In the backyard, a number of amenities make for ideal lounging or gathering spaces, including a built-in barbecue and dining terrace, a built-in fire pit surrounded in part by a curved stone bench and a swimming pool and spa (though the athlete may opt to remove the child-safety fence currently in place there). Shaquille O’Neal’s new purchase comes hot on the heels of another real estate acquisition: just last year, the basketball star purchased a 14.3-acre spread in a suburb of Atlanta, which included two sizable houses with a total of eight bedrooms and eight full and two half bathrooms.
