Broad City star Abbi Jacobson is the latest celebrity to shell out for a midcentury-style home in recent weeks, and based on descriptions of the restored 1950s home, it isn’t hard to see the appeal. The 2,000-square-foot, two-story residence, located in Los Angeles’s Silver Lake neighborhood, includes three bedrooms and two bathrooms, plus a separate office space accessible through a three-car garage). It also oversees the city’s downtown skyline. The home’s main focus seems to be natural light: The living room is lined with windows and the dining room features glass sliders that open out onto a covered patio, perfect for sunbathing in late December or watching the sun rise each morning. Meryl Streep and Kristen Wiig have also recently purchased homes in a similar style.
Abbi Jacobson’s new home also features a kitchen with a center island that fuses old and new: A restored vintage cooktop helps maintain the classic feel of the room, while the rest of the appliances are up-to-date stainless steel. (Solid-surface countertops on snow-white Shaker-style cabinets help round out the modern-vintage vibe.) As for the actress’s new bedroom, the master suite includes a private bathroom with a marble-top two-sink floating vanity and a combination soaking tub-shower that overlooks the backyard, ideal for privacy and winding down. No doubt Jacobson will have a blast decorating her new $1.6 million space as well—earlier this year, she spoke to Architectural Digest about her love of interior design and her WNYC podcast, “A Piece of Work.”
