When it comes to booking travel, it generally stands that you first choose the location, then your accommodations. If there ever was a reason to buck convention and do the opposite, we’ve got it for you—in the form of nine swoon-worthy designer-owned Airbnbs.
Each of these abodes, found in locations ranging from Savannah to Ojai, truly represent the ethos of their aesthetically inclined owners and are so perfectly curated that they, in and of themselves, become a worthy destination. So if you’re crazy for DwellStudio and The Inside founder Christiane Lemieux’s European mid-century modern style, stoked on Austin-based homewares designer Katie Kime’s colorfully eclectic inclinations, or appreciate the boho-Cali vibes of Venice’s The Butcher’s Daughter, we’re willing to bargain that you’ll love staying at the homes they’ve designed. Check out these extra-special spots, and be prepared to plan your next trip around their availability.
1. When it came time to decorate her three-bedroom Hamptons, New York, beach house, Christiane Lemieux (who you may know as the founder of homewares brands DwellStudio and more recently The Inside) infused her signature mid-century-inspired style with a laid-back surf aesthetic that feels just right for its waterfront location. Decor aside, the sunsets from the house’s private beach are, according to the extremely well-traveled Lemieux, “the best in the world,” and we’re willing to guess that watching them from the property’s water trampoline is an especially spectacular experience.
