SketchUp For Beginners

SketchUp is a tool that is used by many including designers and architects. We Are Going To Draw A Simple House For An Example. Here are some basics of this software:

  1. Open SketchUp By Clicking on this icon:


    2.  Delete The Person By “Left-Clicking” On It And using the “Delete” Button.

3.  Left-Click On The Rectangle Tool (screen-shot-2016-10-05-at-9-58-54-am ). Click On The Center Of  Plane and Type 3′,5′ To Create a 3’x5′ Rectangle.


4. Click on The Face Of The Rectangle You Just Created And Use The Push/Pull Tool [To Bring Up The Face And Make It 3D. 


5. Left Click On The Rectangle Three Times To Select The Whole Object. Right Click On The Selected Rectangle And Choose Option “Make Group”. 


6. Triple Click On The Rectangle To Go Inside The Group. Use The Rectangle Tool (screen-shot-2016-10-05-at-9-58-54-am) To Draw a 5″x8″ Rectangle On The Face Of The Rectangle. 


7. Use Push/Pull Tool To Push Back The Rectangle and Make It Hollow. You Have Now Created The Door Of The House.


8. Draw A Line On The Top Face Of This Rectangle. Make Sure You Are Still Inside The Group. Use The Move Tool (screen-shot-2016-10-05-at-10-39-36-am) To Push Up The Line. This Creates The Roof Of The House.


9. Save Your Drawing By Left Clicking On “File” And “Save As”. You Have Now Learned The Very Basics of SketchUp!
